MODERATE BIKING      30 DAYS
Trip #SPN

Use your Spanish language skills every day! Biking from Seville along Roman walls and over arched bridges brings history to life as you cycle for three days in Portugal, the great maritime center of the Middle Ages. Coast roads lead you back into sunny Spain. Spend the night in an ancient walled hilltop town and try empanadas or another delicious local specialty for dinner.

Santiago de Compostela's narrow medieval streets recall pilgrims who walked hundreds of miles in the Middle Ages to pray at the ancient cathedral that you visit.Tour the amazing Alhambra and spend two days on the Costa del Sol for beach time. Then it's on to Toledo and Madrid, where you'll see all the famous sights, including the Prado Museum and royal palace, and eat lunch at an outdoor plaza café (don't feed the pigeons – it just encourages them!)

The train will take you to France's beautiful Loire Valley, with its ancient villages (see if you can spot a troglodyte house!) and incredible chateaux. You'll stop often to explore castles, cathedrals, or outdoor markets and sharpen your French along the way to Paris for three days of excitement. Picnic under the Eiffel Tower! Count the gargoyles at Notre Dame! Ride a bateau mouche up the Seine! Paris - the perfect way to end a taste of Europe!

“I can’t quite put into words what leading our trip has meant to me. It was by far the most rewarding thing I have ever done as well as being one of the greatest times of my life. Thank you so much for making that possible.

Gordy (Gordon Scannell, leader 1972 and 1974) was thrilled to hear all about our adventures and look at pictures from our trip. He is glad to know that not too much has changed since his era - that the same integrity and care is being put into childrens’ summers as it was 30 years ago. It’s really a remarkable program.”
